Start where you are

You don’t have to work it all out alone.

If communication, regulation, sensory experiences, social connection or daily routines feel challenging, our team can help you explore the next steps.

Phoenix Project supports children, adolescents and young adults aged 4–25 through Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology. We begin with their strengths and work with you to identify meaningful goals.

Everyday skills & participation

Occupational Therapy supports daily routines, sensory needs, regulation, attention, independence and participation.

Communication & connection

Speech Pathology supports speech, language, literacy, AAC and meaningful communication, with feeding and multilingual support where appropriate.

The way we work

Their interest is our starting point.

Make room for enjoyment

Play, games, creative activities and personal interests can help young people connect with therapy. We choose activities that support their agreed goals.

Work with your family

Your priorities and everyday experiences matter. With consent, we can collaborate with educators, support coordinators and other professionals.

Build skills beyond the session

We develop practical strategies for home, school and the community, and review progress together as needs change.

Getting to know each other

What to expect at the first appointment.

The first appointment is a chance to listen, connect and understand your young person’s strengths, needs and everyday life.

Your priorities

We listen to your concerns, what’s going well, and the goals that matter to your family.

Their everyday world

We discuss communication, participation and routines across home, school and community settings.

The next steps

We explain recommendations and any assessment needs, then work towards a practical therapy plan.

Occupational Therapy

Assessment and planning are tailored to the referral goals and your young person’s everyday needs.

Speech Pathology

A one-hour initial consultation comes first. Your Speech Pathologist then discusses any recommended assessments and prepares a tailored therapy plan.

We discuss recommendations, expected time and costs before any additional assessment or clinical work proceeds.

Before you meet us

A little about them goes a long way.

What they enjoy

Tell us about favourite activities, games, hobbies or topics. Their interests help us find a starting point.

What matters to your family

Think about the everyday activities you’d like support with, and what you hope therapy can help your young person work towards.

What helps them feel comfortable

Share communication preferences, sensory needs and any strategies that already work well. You can ask our team about the first visit.

Questions from families

Useful things to know.

Do we need an NDIS plan?

No. We support private-paying families as well as self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. View fees and NDIS information, or contact us if you’re unsure which option applies.

Do we need a GP referral?

No GP referral is required. Parents and carers can refer directly using our Splose referral form.

Where does therapy take place?

Appointments are available in our Chisholm clinic and through mobile visits to homes, schools and community settings where appropriate across the ACT, Queanbeyan and surrounding areas.

Can my young person receive both services?

Yes, where Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology are both appropriate. With consent, our clinicians can coordinate support around shared goals while keeping each discipline’s role clear.

Do you support neurodivergent young people?

Yes. Our approach is strengths-based and shaped around each young person’s interests, preferences and goals. We work with families to understand what helps them feel comfortable and engaged.
